ArtResin is non-toxic when used as directed and conforms to ASTM D-4236, meaning it has been evaluated as safe for home use. However, it's still important to follow a few basic safety guidelines:

• Wear gloves: Protect your skin from a sticky mess and possible irritation. If resin gets on your skin, wash it off promptly with soap and water.
• Protect your eyes: If resin comes into contact with your eyes, flush them immediately with water and seek medical attention.
• Work in a well-ventilated space: If ventilation is limited, wear a respirator for added safety.
• When using a torch: Keep well away from flammable materials, point the torch away from you and never leave a torch unattended, do not over torch the resin, and do not use on solvent materials including alcohol ink, spray paint etc.

ArtResin has a working time of about 45 minutes before it begins to cure and becomes too thick to spread. For best results, pour and apply the resin immediately after mixing for 3 minutes.

Temperature note: Heat will shorten your working time. If you warm the resin in a water bath, expect to lose about 10 minutes. Likewise, in spaces above 85°F (25°C), both working and cure times will be reduced. Always keep your workspace temperature in mind to get the best results.

ArtResin is dry to the touch within 24 hours and reaches its full cure in 72 hours.

For best results, allow the resin to cure in a warm and dry environment, ideally between 75-85°F (24-30°C) and 50-80% humidity. It's important to maintain stable temperatures during the first 24 hours to avoid dimples in the resin surface.

Yes, you can apply multiple layers of ArtResin to build depth, cover areas of high-relief, or to repair imperfections.

The ideal thickness for each pour is 1/8" (3 mm) to help prevent trapped bubbles. You can pour additional layers once the previous one reaches the gel stage (after about 3-5 hours) or after it has fully cured.

If the first layer has cured completely, scuff the surface with sandpaper to create texture for the new layer to adhere to. Clean the surface, then mix and pour your next coat as usual. The scuff marks will disappear once the new resin layer is applied.

ArtResin stays fresh for about 6 months after opening or 1 year unopened from the date of manufacture (found on the label).

Over time, the hardener may yellow in the bottle due to oxidation - similar to how a cut apple will brown. The yellowing looks worse in the bottle - once you add the resin (which remains clear), the hardener will lighten significantly. It will still cure normally and while it may not be ideal for light-colored artwork, it’s suitable for darker pieces of art, over wood, or for use with tints.

It's important to note that yellowing from oxidation is not the same as UV-induced yellowing, which occurs after cured resin has been exposed to direct sunlight.

Yes, once fully cured, ArtResin can be safely used as a food contact surface.

ArtResin has been rigorously tested by a third party for leaching and migration across global standards and passed every test: when used as directed, cured ArtResin is inert and will not transfer any substances into food. 

Please note: Once you add colorants or other additives to your ArtResin mixture, it is no longer be considered food safe. However, applying a final topcoat of clear ArtResin will restore its food-safe status.
