Congratulations to artist Eve B, our latest ArtResin winner! Eve is a textile sculptural artist who lives in the Upper East Side, New York, with a studio in the Garment District: "I create art to help people be more present. I work with all different fabrics, sculpting them on the canvas. My mother sends most of the fabric from Australia where I am from. It’s a certain type I like to use and as she was an artist too, it’s important to me that she’s a part of the process now."
Does where you're from or where you currently live influence your work?
Everything influences the art but sometimes I don’t realise it until after I’ve finished a piece, where that inspiration came from. It’s subconscious.
What's your art background?
I am self taught
Are you a full-time artist or do you create around work hours?
Grateful to say I am a full time artist.
What do you love about the mediums that you use in your work?
The extreme differences. I use high gloss and Matt products side by side on piece.
How did you discover resin?
I wanted the glass finish and there is nothing like resin for that!
How has resin impacted your artwork?
I would not be where I am without it. Nothing comes glossy to resin!
Can you provide a brief rundown of your process?
I don’t have a specific process. It really depends on what my imagination comes up with and it’s normally something I have to create myself and come up with how to make it from scratch! But it’s my favourite part really!
Why do you want to make art? What motivates you to create?
I have to create, I create to take care of myself.
Does art help you in other areas of your life?
Absolutely, since realising my passion for art and work towards it full time, everything influences my life feels so much more in flow.
What do you hope someone sees or feels when they look at your art?
Curiosity and joy!
How do you define success as an artist? What does that look and feel like for you?
Mental health is wealth and for that I must create! Success is different to everyone, for me, waking up and being excited to get to the studio is success.
What's your favorite resin tip you'd like to share with our readers?
Measure the ration correctly, the after stirring for 5 minutes pour into another bucket and stir again for 3 more!
Where do you sell your work?
Mostly word of mouth but I have done some gallery shows and last year I was in Scope at Art Basel Miami. Huge career highlight so far!
