Becky Lindner is our ArtResin Winner

Congratulations to artist Becky Lindner, our latest ArtResin winner!  Becky is a painter and mixed media artist based in Pocahontas, AR,  who creates colorful, textured artwork using acrylic paint and recycled dried paint:  "I recycle the paint from my paint palette to give it new life by turning it into one-of-a-kind pieces finished with resin."

Does where you’re from or where you currently live influence your work?

Not necessarily, I travel often and that sometimes influences my work, especially the colors that I use.

What is your art background? Are you self-taught, or did you study art?

Self-taught

Are you a full-time artist, or do you create around another job or career?

I am a part-time artist and full-time gifted and talented teacher.

What do you love most about the mediums you work with?

I like to work with acrylics because of their quick drying time and the acrylic paint works well in my recycled resin pieces.

How did you first discover resin?

Following other artists on social media

How has using resin impacted or changed your artwork?

I am able to create something different from everyone else.  Resin is the perfect way to seal the art I create with recycled paint.

Can you give us a brief rundown of your creative process?

I create in my studio beside my house, where I have a table that’s always full of leftover paint. I peel the dried paint from my palette and arrange the colorful pieces on a painted canvas. Then I prepare the artwork and pour resin over several pieces at once.  For years, I threw the peeled paint away while wondering what I could make with it. The first piece I created from leftover paint was the state of Arkansas, and I’ve been giving it new life ever since.

What motivates you to create?

Creating art helps me unwind after a day of teaching. It’s the most relaxing thing I do, and I love turning that time into something that makes me feel productive while doing something I enjoy.

Does creating art positively impact other areas of your life?

Creating art is like therapy for me. When I’m creating, I can focus completely on the process and let go of the worries and stresses of everyday life. It gives me a sense of peace and helps me recharge.

What do you hope people see or feel when they look at your work?

I want my art to make people smile and bring happiness to their day.

What does success as an artist mean to you?

Creating work that brings joy to others while continuing to grow and enjoy the creative process. It’s about creating something meaningful that makes someone smile.

What is your favourite resin tip or trick you’d like to share with our readers?

Make sure that you have everything you need before you mix your resin.  Also, take the time to stay with your artwork to watch for any bubbles that might pop up.

Where can people find or purchase your work?

Online www.beckylindnerart.com and local retail stores.
