Brandi loves the sense of calm she gets from painting her mandalas - for her, creating art is an opportunity to quiet her mind and simply be present in the moment. "My art is very meditative to create so I hope the viewer feels a sense of calm, wonder and zen when they are looking at it"
Brandi has worked with many mediums including oil, chalk, pastels, inks, and spray paint but loves the ease of acrylic paint: "I can do it anywhere and I don’t have to wait as long for it dry to begin my process."
To create her mandalas, first Brandi paints the background of the canvas using acrylic paint, acrylic ink and sometimes spray paint. After that dries, she draws out the mandala using Posca Paint Pens: "All of my mandalas are completely freehand and I typically don’t have a plan of how it’ll turn out when I go into a mandala painting."
A coat of ArtResin bring out all the details in the paint, giving it a finished look. Brandi started using ArtResin 5 years ago and loves the added dimension it brings to her artwork: "Resin has helped bring my art to life and it has been such a treat to hear how my art has helped calm people down. I also love hearing about the different details that people find hidden in the art. None of that would be visible or very noticeable without having added resin to it."
Brandi has been working towards a full time career creating art. Her work can be found on her website and social media pages, and can also be found at local Night Markets in the greater Tacoma/Seattle area.
