Congratulations to artist Angie Bryant, our latest ArtResin winner! Angie is an alcohol ink artist based in Greer, South Carolina:
"I create expressive floral artwork using alcohol inks on surfaces like ceramic tile, gesso panels, and aluminum. My work is known for soft movement, layered petals, and vibrant color, often finished with resin to bring depth and shine."

Does where you're from or where you currently live influence your work?
Not specifically. I’m inspired by flowers wherever I find them—whether it’s something growing nearby or something I’ve seen while traveling.
What’s your art background?
I have a background in art education and spent many years teaching elementary art in the public school system before transitioning into my own art business.
Are you a full-time artist or do you create around work hours?
I’m a full-time artist.

What do you love about the mediums that you use in your work?
I love the unpredictability. Alcohol inks have a mind of their own, and learning how to guide them instead of control them is part of the magic.
How did you discover resin?
I discovered resin while searching for a way to seal my artwork and protect alcohol ink on ceramic tile from scratching.
How has resin impacted your artwork?
Resin completely transformed my work. It takes a painting and turns it into a showstopper. The shine and depth stop people in their tracks—especially at art festivals. I can’t tell you how many times someone has walked into my booth because the resin caught their eye from across the way. It pulls them in and lets the artwork speak for itself.

Can you provide a brief rundown of your process?
Each piece is first sealed with a high-quality UV protecting spray varnish. Once fully dry, I tape off the edges to prevent drips and then apply a layer of resin to enhance the color and add depth.
Why do you want to make art?
What motivates you to create? In this second chapter of my life, after raising my children, I found my way back to the artist I had set aside for so many years. Creating feels like rediscovering a part of myself. It’s something that brings me joy, and I’m motivated by the opportunity to share that with others.
Does art help you in other areas of your life?
Absolutely. It’s a huge source of stress relief and a way for me to slow down and be present in the moment.

What do you hope someone sees or feels when they look at your art?
Joy. There’s already so much heaviness in the world—I want my work to make people pause, smile, and feel something light and uplifting.
How do you define success as an artist? What does that look and feel like for you?
Success for me is being proud of what I create and seeing the joy it brings to others.
What’s your favorite resin tip you’d like to share with our readers?
Warm your resin/hardener in a water bath before mixing. It helps reduce bubbles and gives you a smoother, more even finish.
Where do you sell your work?
At art festivals, through my website (www.angiebryantart.com), and on social media.
Congratulations on your win, Angie!
