Congratulations to artist Angela Fabbri, our latest ArtResin winner! Based in Houston, TX, Angela creates contemporary, text-based art that blends structure with refined organic techniques and features her signature backwards text:
"I use a repeated phrase or word to make a patterned background that I then paint a main subject on top of. My work often incorporates resin to achieve added depth and luminosity. Color is very inspiring to me, and I love the way resin saturates color giving it next level life."

Does where you're from or where you currently live influence your work?
Absolutely. I’ve lived in several states throughout my life, and I take a bit of inspiration from all of them. I’ve been based in Texas for the last 20 years, and I have been inspired by the western aesthetic and countryside which you can especially see in some of my recent paintings. Playful donkeys, chickens, roosters, haybales. My paintings are my journal in paint. Layers of inspiration from my life, travels, and experiences.
What's your art background?
My background is rooted in a mix of creative exploration and entrepreneurial drive. I’ve always been drawn to design, aesthetics, and creating things that evoke a feeling, but my path into fine art evolved more organically over time with a magnetic pull that just kept getting stronger.
Are you self-taught or did you study art?
I discovered at an early age that I had natural talent. I continued my self-taught journey developing my style through experimentation and a lot of playful discovery, which I think has allowed my work to feel very personal and distinct.

Are you a full-time artist or do you create around work hours?
I’m very grateful to be living my dream, about to celebrate my 9th year as a full-time artist. Being full-time allows me to fully immerse myself in both the creative and business sides of my work.
What do you love about the mediums that you use in your work?
I work mostly with acrylic paint and resin. Color is my love language and the vibrant colors available in acrylic paint just make my soul smile. Combined with the fast-drying time, it allows me to create layers and depth with ease. I’ve always loved shiny things so using resin is just the cherry on top. The glass-like finish feels so luxurious.
How did you discover resin?
I discovered resin through curiosity—I was drawn to its high-gloss finish and the way it could transform a surface and give color another layer of life. Once I started experimenting with it, I quickly realized how much potential it had to elevate my work.

How has resin impacted your artwork?
Resin has transformed my work. It adds depth, richness, and wow factor that elevate each piece. It also pushed me to refine my process and be more intentional, because it’s a medium that doesn’t leave much room for error. I can be a bit of a perfectionist, so I enjoy taking the time for the precision needed to get that flawless glassy surface.
Can you provide a brief rundown of your process?
My process usually starts with a feeling, a memory, or a color story. Once I decide on the details for the painting, I put on some music and let it flow. After the paint is fully dry, I prepare my space very intentionally because resin requires precision and timing. From there, I pour the resin and let it do its thing.

Why do you want to make art?
I make art because it’s one of the most honest ways to translate emotion into something tangible. It allows me to create an experience by sharing something personal that someone else can feel in their own way.

What motivates you to create?
I’m motivated by growth—both creatively and personally. I’m always curious about how I can push my work further while still staying true to my aesthetic and my story.
Does art help you in other areas of your life?
Yes, it teaches me patience, discipline, and trust in the process—things that carry over into every area of my life. It is also an outlet. My studio is my happy place, and when I put on some music to create, I feel like I disappear into my own little magical world of color.
What do you hope someone sees or feels when they look at your art?
I hope they feel something spark inside of them. Whether it’s something calming, grounding, makes them laugh, or ponder deeply…I just hope it makes them feel more alive than before they saw it.

How do you define success as an artist?
Success to me is creating work that feels authentic while also resonating with others. It’s about alignment between what I love to create and what people are drawn to. It’s the most incredible feeling when someone feels so connected to something I’ve created, that they want to put it in their home so they can enjoy it every day.
What does success look and feel like for you?
It looks like building a body of work I’m proud of and having it live in spaces where it’s truly appreciated. The feeling is a combination of validation, acceptance, accomplishment, fulfillment, and satisfaction. The highest reward for all the sacrifices made to follow my dream, never giving up throughout the rollercoaster of being a fulltime artist. I’ll always remember my first time showing during Art Basel Week Miami in 2019…my ultimate dream at the time had come true and that felt like success!

What's your favorite resin tip you'd like to share with our readers?
Preparation is everything. Your environment, timing, and materials all matter. Don’t skip steps, and don’t rush the process. One of my favorite steps is lining the backside of the painting with packing tape. This makes the resin drops so easy and satisfying to remove.
Where do you sell your work?
