Congratulations to Torsha Love, our latest ArtResin Winner! Based in Charlotte, NC, Torsha is a resin artist who creates coasters, trays, trinket jars, and dominoes, as well as memorial pieces for loved ones and pets.
Does where you're from or where you currently live influence your work?
Charlotte is full of culture and creativity, but I’ve never seen anyone create resin art here.
What's your art background?
My dad is a self-taught artist, and I grew up watching him draw and paint. My parents always encouraged creativity and artistic expression, but I never considered myself an artist until I found resin.
Are you a full-time artist or do you create around work hours?
I create in my spare time.
What do you love about the mediums you use in your work?
I love the look on someone’s face when I show them my pieces. No matter how many photos I post, clients are always overjoyed when they see the art in person. Their smiles keep me motivated and inspired.
How did you discover resin?
Watching YouTube.
How has resin impacted your artwork?
Resin has taken my art to a whole new level. I’ve only used ArtResin since I started. It gives my art the dazzle it needs to stand out.
Why do you want to make art?
I want to add beauty to someone’s home and workspace.
What motivates you to create?
My husband and my children motivate me. They make me feel like I can do anything. When I hear, “Mommy, you made that?” it pushes me to amaze them even more.
Does art help you in other areas of your life?
Yes. As a working mom, I rarely get time to myself. When I’m creating, I hide out in my office (The Lab), listen to music, and pour myself into my craft. It’s fulfilling—like therapy. I call it Creative Chaos.
What do you hope someone sees or feels when they look at your art?
I hope they see the time and effort put into creating quality art and feel blessed and honored to have my work.
How do you define success as an artist?
Owning my own craft studio with a storefront where I can teach classes and sell my art.
What’s your favorite resin tip to share with readers?
Follow all safety measures, trust yourself, and have fun.
