Every month we like to spread the love by sending a 1 gallon kit to someone who has used the #artresin hashtag on Instagram ... and then we share their work with the world!
Congratulations to David Santiago ... our winner for January!
David Santiago is a contemporary artist based in Albuquerque, NM.
Using a variety of mediums including acrylic, charcoal, pastel, ink, gold leaf, and even make-up, David creates female faces and forms on wood panels.
Hand selecting each panel, David incorporates the wood pattern as part of his image, utilizing the knots as starting points or facial features and always allowing the grain to peek through in the finished piece.
David works constellations into the freckles on each face - whether dotted with gold leaf, acrylic paint or an LED light, each cluster of freckles contains a hidden cluster of stars.

Leo, below, was made with charcoal, pastel, acrylic, Urban Decay eyeshadow and NARS blush on a birch panel, and finished with a coat of resin.
It comes with its own remote to control the LED freckles.
David plays with the wood grain, utilizing its pattern as part of both positive and negative space in his pieces.
Congratulations on your win, David!
Don't forget ... hashtag YOUR resin work with #artresin on Instagram, and YOU could be our next monthly winner!!!
