How can I achieve a layered effect with ArtResin?

There is no limit to the amount of layers you can create when working with ArtResin.

Some artists use layers of ArtResin to create a very thick top layer, while others create art between each layer of resin.

There are two methods for layering ArtResin:

 The Full Cure Method

  1. Apply your first layer of ArtResin and allow it to fully cure for 24 hours.
  1. After 24 hours, roughly sand the surface of the resin with 60-80 grit sandpaper. (You don’t need to sand deeply, just scratch up the surface so that the next layer has something to ‘grip.’)
  1. Next, remove all the sanding dust from the surface of your piece. Use a vacuum to get most of the dust off, and then wipe the surface with a damp rag to get anything that may be leftover.
  1. At this point, you can choose to add another layer of paint or collage to your piece of art. If you’re not planning on adding anything else to your piece, you can skip ahead to step 5.
  1. Now that your previous layer of resin is sanded and prepared, pour your next layer of resin the same way as the first! You can repeat this layering process as many times as you need.

     The Partial Cure Method

    1. Apply your first layer of ArtResin and wait 4-6 hours, in this time, your resin will have partially cured.
    1. Once your resin is partially cured, you can add any objects that you would like to embed.
    1. Finally, pour your second layer of ArtResin directly over your tacky resin as usual. You can repeat this process as many times as you like.

Layering is a great way to take advantage of the crystal-clear qualities of ArtResin, you can create stunning 3-D effects and add depth to any piece!
