We've got 2 simple epoxy resin project ideas using crystal clear ArtResin!

1) How To Mount and Coat A Photo With ArtResin:
You’ll need the following resin art supplies:
- a wooden panel to fit your photo ( available at art supply stores )
- white acrylic paint and paintbrush
- glue stick
- your photo
- ArtResin epoxy resin
- nitrile gloves
- measuring cup with easy to read measurement lines
- mixing container
- stir stick
- spreader, spatula or popsicle stick
- a handheld torch like our Artist's Torch
- toothpicks
- an empty plastic tote or cardboard box to protect your piece while it dries
Steps:
1. Paint the front and edges of your wooden panel using white acrylic paint and allow to dry.
2. Using a gluestick, apply glue to the the front of the wooden panel.
3. Mount your photo, and smooth it down flat to get rid of any air pockets.
4. As an extra precaution for matte photos or photos on lesser quality paper, you'll want to pre-seal your photo ( we used our soon-to-be-released ArtSeal sealant ). Allow sealant to dry.
5. Using our Resin Calculator, determine how much ArtResin you’ll need for the size of your photo. For example, both a 4" x 6" and 5" x 7" photo require 1 oz total resin ( 1/2 oz resin and 1/2 oz hardener ).
6. Wearing gloves, measure accurately, by volume, equal amounts of resin and hardener. Stir thoroughly for 3 minutes total, ensuring you scrape the bottom and sides of your mixing container as you go. ( Don’t be alarmed if your resin has bubbles after mixing …. we'll address these after we pour. )
7. Pour the ArtResin onto the centre of your piece, and using a plastic spatula or popsicle stick spread it out to the edges. You can either let the resin run over the edges, smoothing out the drips with a gloved finger OR you can nudge the resin right up to the edges without going over. This technique is known as "doming", and because ArtResin has a thick, honey like consistency, it will sit neatly on the edge of your piece.
8. Using your Artist’s Torch, hold it above the surface of the resin just long enough to zap out the bubbles, keeping the torch moving from side to side at all times. Be mindful not to overtorch - the flame only needs to lightly kiss the surface of the resin.
9. Once the piece has been torched, look at the resin in the light to see if there are any missed bubbles or bits of dust, using a toothpick to fish them out.
10. Cover your piece and let it sit for 24 hrs until it’s dry to the touch.
2) ResinTint Flow Art Panel
You’ll need the following resin art supplies:
- a wooden liquid art panel
- white acrylic paint and paintbrush
- ResinTint ( to color epoxy resin )
- ArtResin epoxy resin
- nitrile gloves
- measuring cup with easy to read measurement lines
- mixing container
- stir stick
- spreader, spatula or popsicle stick
- a handheld torch like our Artist's Torch
- toothpicks
- plastic mixing cups (one for each color and one for clear ArtResin)
- an empty plastic tote or cardboard box to protect your piece while it dries
Steps:
1.
Using our Resin Calculator, determine how much ArtResin you’ll need for the size of your liquid panel.
2.
Wearing gloves, measure accurately, by volume, equal amounts of resin and hardener. Stir thoroughly for 3 minutes total, ensuring you scrape the bottom and sides of your mixing container as you go.
3. Wearing gloves, pour equal amounts of carefully measured and mixed ArtResin epoxy resin into your plastic mixing cups.
4. Shake ResinTint bottles well.
5. Color your epoxy resin by adding in between 15-50 drops per fluid ounce of ArtResin. Experiment with the colors to tint your epoxy resin! Mix colors together, add fewer drops for a more translucent result, more drops for a saturated result, or add a few drops of white to make the epoxy resin color more opaque. Stir well.
6. Pour and spread your colored epoxy resin onto the liquid art panel. Include a little bit of clear ArtResin if desired to give you a variety of different shades.
7. Pick the panel up and rotate it to help blend the colored epoxy resin and cover the surface of the art panel. If desired, run a toothpick through the wet resin to marble colors.
8. Using a small butane torch like our Artist’s Torch, torch out the bubbles, keeping the torch moving at all times.
9. Once the piece has been torched, look at the resin in the light to see if there are any missed bubbles or bits of dust, using a toothpick to fish them out.
10. Cover your piece and let it sit for 24 hrs until it’s dry to the touch.
